The Countdown to Valentine's Day is ON!

Don't waste your time debating over the perfect gift - the winner is chocolate every time - but make it dark.

Chocolate has earned itself a bad wrap. Surely, something that tastes so good, would have to be a diet no-no… But, recent research suggests 7 ounces of chocolate a week will provide you with all the anit-oxidents and flavonoids you need to stay healthy. It can lower cholesterol and prevent cancer, heart disease and type 2 Diabetes. Dark chocolate is also a good source of iron.

As we all know eating chocolate triggers feelings of emotional well-being. It is literally like eating a big bear hug. It is a perfect gift – for others, and for yourself too.

So, cocoa is actually good for you but it does tend to keep bad company - like lots and lots of sugar. Why not serve it up with some better company, while you are in good company and make some magic in the process.

For Romantic Love, dark chocolate and strawberries are the ultimate combination. Strawberries are as red as a rose, associated with Venus, the Goddess of Love and they are even shaped like a heart.

Cherries are associated with fertility, festivities and merrymaking - in ancient China they were a symbol of immortality. Give chocolate cherries if you are looking for a long term commitment, and a family.

Pineapples are the princess of fruits. They are a symbol of hospitality - nice if you are looking for someone to party with, rather that a full blown romantic tryst.

Apricots are associated with love, peace and flirtation. They also ripen early - so if you want to speed things up a little try some dried apricots dipped in rich dark chocolate - mmm, its one of my favourites.

Although they are delicious you might want to avoid banana dipped in chocolate. Yes, Bananas are associated with sex - but they are also symbols of comedy, politics and madness. We don't need that on Valentine's.

Instead of a coffee at the end of the night, opt for a hot chocolate with cinnamon and a touch of vanilla. This is a sensational combination of love, warmth, success, psychic power and harmony all in one mug.
